Cleaves Family Law is pleased to announce that Rhonda Cleaves has been selected for the 5th year in a row for inclusion on the Best Lawyers® list, specifically for Family Law and Collaborative Law. Rhonda is a 24-year attorney who has spent more than half her legal career focused exclusively on family law and helping families in divorce.
First published in 1983, Best Lawyers® is a listing of leading lawyers based on extensive peer-review evaluation. Lawyers are not required or even allowed to pay a fee to be included in the annual listing; it is an honor to be included on the listing. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers® “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
Prior to opening her own firm, Rhonda worked as a toxic tort litigator, representing injured clients and their families in the courtroom. She transferred her passion for helping people to working with families in divorce crisis, but she quickly learned that the courtroom and traditional litigation system was the last place she wanted to take families. Since her first Collaborative Divorce training in 2006, Rhonda has worked continually to develop her skills as a Collaborative Divorce Attorney. At the outset of each case, she helps her clients determine their goals for their divorce process and then utilizes the skills she has developed over the years to navigate each case to a settlement tailored to each client’s specific needs and goals. She firmly believes that client-directed settlement is the best outcome for families in the midst of divorce.
Rhonda’s passion for Collaborative Divorce law extends to the community, where she works to help train other lawyers as well as financial and mental health professionals to become educated in the Collaborative Divorce process. Rhonda serves as a Board Trustee for the non-profit Collaborative Divorce Texas as well as an Executive Board member of the non-profit North Texas Collaborative Divorce Alliance. She is a 4-time invited speaker at the annual State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Conference.
